This year marks 25 years since Peter and I began our journey as store owners, and taking a moment to reflect fills us with enormous gratitude.
Our story began in Sydney, where we were fortunate to run several successful retail stores. Meshea Lifestyle, our first family business was named after our two daughters. Meshea was open for 10 wonderful years and laid the foundation for everything that followed. Those early years taught us so much - not just about retail, but about people, relationships, and the joy of building something meaningful.
After 40 years in the fashion industry as a buyer and wholesale agent, I’ve seen trends come and go, but I’ve also seen how the right outfit can change how a woman feels. When we moved to the Southern Highlands, I knew I wanted to create something fresh, something that reflected my own style, my love of French fashion, beautiful layering, and dressing with confidence.
That vision became Mrs Pete’s Shed, which opened in 2018 with one clear goal: to create a space where women could find quality fashion, receive honest advice, and leave feeling good about themselves. While Mrs Pete’s Shed is just seven years old, it has quickly become a place we’re incredibly proud of, both here in our Bowral store and online, welcoming customers from near and far.
None of this would be possible without the wonderful team who work alongside us today, incredible women, each bringing care, and dedication to everything they do. We’re also deeply thankful to all the staff who have worked with us over the years, each one leaving their mark on our journey.
And to our suppliers - thank you for your creativity, craftsmanship, loyalty, and support. The relationships we’ve built with you over the years are something we truly value, and you play a huge role in shaping what Mrs Pete’s Shed is today.
Running your own business is the biggest learning curve there is. You learn to adapt, to listen closely, and to trust both your head and your gut. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about what you sell, it’s about the trust you earn and the relationships you nurture.
As we step into our 25th anniversary year, we’ll be taking time to reflect, celebrate, and say thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. There’s more to come very soon, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
